It seems like what goes around comes around. After a few years serving the local characters a selection of Wines, Beers and other beverages at The Sporting Chance, Red Roses (many moons ago), some of the regulars have now reversed the tables on me. Dai & Glyn Jones are the entrepreneurs who founded Princes Gate Spring Water (my favourite water) and when I contacted them about the Brains SA Captains Climb they were quick to offer their help.
Water is playing an incredibly important part during the Kili climb and we've been increasing our water intake for the last couple of week so that we can manage the 4 - 5 litres of water that we'll need to drink on the mountain. We have Princes Gate water cooling systems in the office and I visited Glyn at the farm to pick up some water for the trip to Heathrow.
The trekkers will all be meeting at the Vale Hotel to transfer to buses and start the journey to Kili. Princes Gate have donated water so that we can stay hydrated on the trip to Heathrow.
I was also lucky enough to have a tour of the bottling plant and Glyn showed me the 2 impressive production lines that turn an empty plastic bottle into the their fully branded quality Welsh water product. Check out the video on their website http://www.princesgatespringwater.com/SpringWater/about.html
It was great to spend the afternoon catching up with Glyn and I found out some interesting facts about their business, like; their water is stocked in all of Jamie Oliver's restaurants; they bottle water for Arsenal at the Emirates stadium; during the peak summer weeks they produce over 1,000,000 bottles a of water a week!!
A big thank you goes out to Dai & Glyn for their support not only with the water but also for funding some of the equipment that I will need on Kili (http://www.velindrewalks.com/equipment-sponsors.html).
Happy hydrating all!
